Led by Mayor Michael J. Todd and accompanied by a handful of elected officials from throughout Mercer County, friends, and family, Robbinsville Township officially dedicated the new municipal complex at 2300 Route 33 in the name of former mayor and 25-year public servant, David Fried, on July 30, 2026.

The "David Fried Municipal Complex" currently houses many of the Township's vital municipal offices, including the Robbinsville Police Department and the Municipal Courts of Robbinsville and Hightstown Borough. The Hightstown Police administrative offices also are located there.

Mr. Fried announced his retirement from public service on March 31, 2025.

"If there’s one thing I hope this building represents, it’s not my name. I hope it reminds people that one person can’t accomplish much alone, but a community united around a common purpose can accomplish almost anything," Fried said. "If, years from now, someone walks into this building and has no idea who Dave Fried was, that’s perfectly okay with me. I just hope they walk out believing they were treated with respect, kindness, and professionalism because that’s the legacy I always hoped to leave. My name may be on this building, but its story belongs to the people of Robbinsville. Whatever we accomplished over the last 25 years, we accomplished together. Thank you for allowing me to be part of it."

Mr. Fried, who began his political career in 2000 on the Township Committee as part of the old Washington Township form of government, left a lasting legacy that includes spearheading the voter-approved branding of the town's new identity in 2007, preserving close to 2,000 acres of open space, the creation of ratable-generating warehouse district that includes Fortune 500 powerhouses Amazon and McKesson, stabilizing what had been the fastest rising tax rates in Mercer County, founding the C.A.R.E. program, and raising more than $500,000 through his groundbreaking "Pay it Forward" initiative.

The renovation of the three-story, 47,000 square foot facility - the former Roma and Investors Bank headquarters - came at no extra cost to taxpayers. It is being subleased through Citizen's Bank for an initial agreement of 10 years. The shared services agreement with Hightstown Borough and its use of the building is also for an initial term of 10 years. The municipalities share utility costs in the same proportion as the construction costs, with Robbinsville accounting for approximately 68 percent and Hightstown coming in at roughly 32 percent.

"To the residents of Robbinsville, thank you for trusting me for so many years," he said "Serving as your mayor has been the greatest honor of my professional life."
